Representatives of the People elected to the Parliament in the 1990
multiparty democratic elections
(Committee Representing People's Parliament)

CRPP Notification 12/2000

1. We have been informed that U Aye Thar Aung , Secretary of the Committee Representing the People's Parliament was forcibly and illegally arrested and taken away to an unknown place by the militarty intelligence personnel on 23 April 2000 at 18 30 hours.

2. (a) In addition to his duties as Secretary. U Aye Thar Aung represents the following ethnic national political parties in the committee:-
· Shan National League for Democracy
· Arakan League for Democracy
· Mon National Democratic Front
· Zomi National Congress

(b) He is also the Secretary of the Arakan League for Democracy

3. The Presidents of the Mon National Democratic Front, the Arakan League for Democracy and the Zomi National Congress (all members of the CRPP) are under arrest and in the custody of the military dictators.

4. A genuine Union of Myanmar can only be established if all the ethnic nationalities and all the ethnic national political parties cooperate and work together.
