Committee Representing People's Parliament
Who won the Multiparty Democracy General Election of 1990
(Committee Representing Peoples' Parliament)

September 20, 2006

1. The general crisis of political, economic, social, health educational aspect besides the outflow of Burmese refugees in the region, illicit drug trafficking and uncontrolled spread of HIV/AIDS are actually widespread in Burma.

2. These problems are arising because of the unilateral actions taken by the State Peace and Development Council without any consultation with political parties (including N LD) and those oft he ethnic nationalities.

3. For the above reasons the domestic situation turned into an international issue. Therefore the situation reached the UN Security Council and it decided on September 15, 2006 to include the situation in Burma in the official agenda.

4. Since the decision of the UNSC is an important step towards democratic transformation and national reconciliation through political dialogue, which in urgently needed for Burma , it is warmly welcomed.
