Norway 'very disappointed' by extension of Suu Kyi's house arrest
Nov 29 (AFP) - The Norwegian government said Monday it was "very disappointed" and "concerned" after Myanmar's ruling military junta extended the house arrest of detained democracy leader and 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
"I am very disappointed that the (Myanmar) government has, according to media reports, now extended the house arrest of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi," Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik said in a statement.
"I am very concerned about her health and her safety. We are following the situation very closely," Bondevik said.
"The (Myanmar) regime has shown no sign of willingness for a real democratization or meaningful dialogue with the opposition. It's very regrettable and the extension of house arrest is a further setback," he added.
