U.S. urges Asia to pressure Myanmar junta

Japan and other Asian countries should stop engagement with Myanmar's junta and take a tougher stance to press for a change of government there, a senior U.S. administration official said Wednesday.

Lorne Craner, assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor, said results from the engagement policy taken by Asian countries have been "absolutely nil." (Kyodo News)
